The phenomenon of “never before”
Never before was a stallion so successful. Never before did a stallion immediately dominate the international competitions with his first crops of foals. And never before did a stallion pass on so much talent for the top sport.
Cornet Obolensky in the breeding world
From the first day that Cornet Obolensky set foot in the world of breeding, the charismatic grey captivated sportspeople and breeders alike. At the Westphalian stallion inspection in 2001, the public watched breathlessly how the product of the golden combination Clinton x Heartbreaker played with the jumps. In the 30-day test the phenomenal athlete scored a 9.24 in the jumping sections and a 10 for loose-jumping.
Under Marco Kutscher’s saddle
The fascination for Cornet Obolensky’s jumping talent increased even further the moment the stallion came under Marco Kutscher’s saddle. With dream scores the pair qualified for the Bundeschampionat final. Later, they conquered the most difficult courses in the world with careless ease.
His progeny
From the first crop of Cornet Obolensky’s sons, the top stallions Cristallo I (1.60m jumping with Henrik von Eckermann), Cornado NRW (1.65m jumping with Marcus Ehning) and Conte Bellini (the discovery of the Gothenburg World Cup Final in 2013 under the Latvian Kristaps Neretieks) were immediately approved. Daniel Deusser’s phenomenal Cornet d’Amour is also out of Cornet Obolensky’s first crop. In 2013 this combination became German Champion and ended in individual 4thplace at the European Championship in Herning. Marco Kutschers’s top horse Cornet’s Cristallo and Emanuele Gaudiano’s Cocoshynsky are also out of Cornet Obolensky’s first crop of foals. All these offspring took Cornet Obolensky, at just 14 years of age, to sixth place in the WBFSH-ranking of best showjumping progenitors.
The World Rankings lists
That was all just the beginning of an unrivalled career in the global breeding of jumping horses. After just four complete crops Cornet Obolensky is third in the most recent WBFSH-ranking. No fewer than 75 of his offspring were awarded world ranking list points in 2015 and relatively speaking, based on the total number of progeny born, Cornet Obolensky should be sovereign. His offspring are setting the tone not only quantitatively but also qualitatively. During the last World Cup Final son Corbinian (Steve Guerdat) won the prestigious World Cup with Cornet d’Amour and Cornado NRW in third and fourth place respectively.
His Foals
Given the above, it goes almost without saying that Cornet Obolensky’s foals are much desired.
In 2015 a total of 26 foals were auctioned at elite auctions in the Netherlands and Belgium. They fetched a never previously seen average (!) of more than €24.000,- It must be obvious.Never before did a stallion set the tone so impressively. Never before did a stallion give so much certainty regarding the talent of his offspring.
